Term 2 2022 Parent Night Flyer

Dear parents,

Australia’s patronal feast, Mary, Help of Christians, falls this Tuesday 24th May. Coming just days after a federal election and whatever consequences that spring from its result, our nation needs Mary; we need Mary. It will be under Our Lady’s mantle that Mass will be held at St Mary, Help of Christians Church, Jindera, at 11.00am followed by the traditional Marian procession. I warmly invite parents and friends of the College to attend.

Nearing the conclusion of the Term 1 Parent Night I felt a pang of concern, since we had gone over time on the guest speaker’s address, that parents might leave quickly and miss out on the social opportunity. The futility of worry was apparent when I resorted to turning out lights in the Hall to bring the night to a close before I had to turn up for work the next day.

In addition to the conviviality, the topic for this coming Thursday’s Parent Night is a crucial one. Good priests may be hard to find, but if they are to be found at all, it must be in this community. The new rector of the seminary, Fr Rick Micallef, is keen to meet and get to know you. Fr Rick will share his story and suggest some spiritual and practical takeaways.

I look forward to debriefing the election result with you and joining in prayer for vocations and our nation.

Warm regards,

Ian Smith

Principal

The Mousetrap

This June, Saint Mary MacKillop presents Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap.  This thrilling play has been running continuously in London since its debut in 1952.  The play is a classic ‘whodunnit’, set in an English countryside guest house during the 1940s.  A group of seven strangers find themselves snowed in at a remote guesthouse.  The guests discover – to their horror – that a killer is in their midst!

With only three performances and limited seating, tickets will sell fast.  For further details visit: www.trybooking.com/BZOWI

Student Medical Details

The school is currently conducting a review of all student medical information.  Families were mailed a medical detail update request during the school holidays.  This information is used to assist the school in meeting the health and safety needs of students as well as for emergency care and first aid.  Families are asked to please return medical information forms to the school office as soon as possible.  Please contact the school office if you have any questions about this process.
