Week 2 Term 2 2022 Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Fr Rick Micallef headlines the term 2 Parent Night to be held in the Hall on Thursday 26 May. Fr Rick is the newly-appointed rector of the Wagga Wagga diocesan seminary, Vianney College, and will speak to the topic, “The harvest is rich, but the labourers are few: Nurturing a religious vocation in your children”. Like Steve Lawrence, who was our guest at the term 1 Parent Night, Fr Rick is a dynamic speaker who will encourage and fortify.

Fr Rick’s topic begs some questions: Who will the labourers be? What will the harvest look like? Not everyone will take up a religious vocation; everyone does, though, graduate to something. Little children don’t stay little for long and so the time we have is precious.

I recently attended a primary school reunion, some 42 years after graduation. Though I hadn’t spoken to most of my former classmates in all that time, it was surprising how quickly we recognised each other and were able to immediately break the ice with no effort at all. Unsurprisingly, there was little faith to be found among them. Something quite disastrous has taken place during those 42 years and serves to reaffirm the consolidation of faith and family that is growing here in Albury. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity that Fr Rick’s visit provides to reflect and renew this Catholic project of special significance.

Warm regards,

Ian Smith

Principal
