Dear Parents,

The end of the term is upon us and, indeed, the closing out of the academic semester. Reports, therefore, will shortly be received in the mail. Summative reports are the culmination of the semester’s work. Feedback is rarely something that is eagerly sought after, unless, of course, it is an acclamation of our incontestable greatness. More often than not, however, it is a challenge to take it in and may even make us wince.

Nonetheless, just as we make a regular examination of conscience, other areas of our life warrant examination and a firm purpose to improve. Take heart from the feedback offered by teachers, knowing that not one of us has reached our destination; all remain a work under way in the hands of the divine craftsman. Please feel free to follow up with teachers or me if you would like to talk further about your child/ren’s progress.

Our Music teacher, Mr Torok, is finishing at SMMC at the end of the term. Mr Torok landed mid-2020 after Mrs Wendt’s departure. A fine musician in his own right, Mr Torok also brought a patient and unflappable temperament to the teaching of Music. I know that the Primary students, as well as staff, will miss him.

Parents may have noticed that Mrs Voskulen has stepped back from reception in the front office to focus on her role as lab technician and in policy administration. Mrs Josiane Mannella is now comfortably ensconced in reception on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week.

Thank you for your support throughout the term. Please God your family will enjoy a peaceful and happy holiday.

Warm regards,

Ian Smith

CIS Cross Country

Well done to Peter Sparshott who competed in the NSW Combined Independent Schools Sports Council (CIS) cross-country competition in Sydney this week.  Peter ran 3km in 14 minutes and 11 seconds, coming 49th out of 101 runners. A fantastic effort!

ICAS Assessments

SMMC will be providing the opportunity for students in year 2 to year 11 to participate in the world-renowned ICAS Assessment testing. If you would like your child to participate in the tests you will need to order them through the ICAS Assessments Parent Payment System. Please see the attached letter for further information as well as a permission form that must be returned to the school by no later than Monday 2nd August.

Car Park Safety

A friendly reminder to parents that students must stay inside the school gate at pick up time until a parent/guardian arrives to walk them safely across the carpark. Also, a reminder that students who ride to school must wear a bike helmet and walk their bike (not ride) across zebra crossings on the road and in the carpark. We thank parents for their cooperation in assisting the school to ensure the safety of all students.

Lost Property

A car key has been found in the car park. If you think it may be yours, please see the office staff.

Missing a jumper or other uniform item? Check our lost property baskets located near the side door to the hall.  Please note, lost property will be cleared out at the end of this term.

Prayer Request

Please pray for Fr Brendan Lee’s father, Matthew Edward Lee, who passed away suddenly this morning.  Eternal rest grant unto Him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him.  May he rest in peace. Amen.
