Parents code of conduct

We have been very busy here at SMMC since our last newsletter.

Last Friday we had a group of 9-12 students head off to the snow. The weather was great, and the students all had a wonderful time.  Thank you to Mrs McGrath for all her hard work organising the trip for our students.

Wednesday we hosted the MacKillop Cup. We thank the Wagga School for coming down to our school, it was a great day. Well done to our students who won medals:  Michael Cramer for Chess, Mary Ryan for Junior Netball and Patrick Byrnes for Junior Football.  We also congratulate the Wagga school who won the MacKillop Cup this year.

The ICAS testing has started this week and will continue over the next two weeks.  We wish our students the very best as they sit the tests.

Thank you to the parents who were able to come along to our school assembly today. It’s always good to see how our students are going and what they have been up to in their classrooms. Well done to all the students who received awards, keep up the good work!

Our next assembly will be held on Friday 27th September and we encourage all parents to come along if they are able. This assembly will be run by the Year 12’s as they prepare to say farewell to SMMC. They have all worked very hard over the year and we wish them all the best for their HSC Exams.  Please keep our year 12 students in your prayers.

School Concert

Our school concert is coming up on Friday 13th September. The concert will be held in our school hall and will start at 7.00pm. Please come along and watch our talented students.  All welcome.

Enrolments for 2020

We are now taking kindergarten enrolments for next year. Please contact the school to organise an interview and tour and to secure your child’s place for 2020.

Missionaries of Charity Visit

The Missionaries of Charity will be making a visit to our school on Monday 9th September to speak to all of our students at varying times throughout the day.  We thank them for taking the time to come and we are sure our students will greatly benefit from their visit.

Campion Visit

Next Tuesday 10th September we have a representative from Campion College coming to the school to talk to our year 10-12 students.  This will be a great opportunity for our students to learn about what Campion College can offer our graduates.

SMMC Annual Fete

Thank you to those who have responded to our call for volunteers to run stalls. An updated stall list is attached with a few gaps still needing to be filled. Thank you also to those who have started collecting donations from businesses to use as prizes on the wheel. Copies of a letter to give to businesses asking for donations are available from the office or can be emailed to you.  If you are able to help with this huge task, please email prior to approaching businesses to ensure that they have not already been asked for donations.  Keep selling those raffle tickets!

Attached is a ‘Wish List’ flyer asking for donations of craft items for the fete craft stall.  If you are able to donate any items they can be dropped off in the basket sitting in the office.  Thank you for your generosity.

Parent Evening Night

Thank you to all the parents who were able to make it to our Parent evening on Saturday night. We thank our guest speaker Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers for travelling here and coming to our school to speak.

Father and Son Camp

Our Father and Son camp is quickly approaching on Friday 20th September – Sunday 22nd September.  Bookings are now closed.  We have quite a large group of fathers and sons coming along and the camp is shaping up to be a great weekend.

Careers Night

Students from years 9-11 will be participating in some job application training at our Careers Night. The students will be taught how to write a CV and cover letter for a job application and then sit a mock interview. On the night we will need some parent helpers who are willing to:

– Create a mock job advertisement in their field of work

– Read CVs and letters of application submitted by students

– Perform interviews with students

If you are interested please email Paul Elias for further details.

Please see attached an updated Parents code of conduct policy along with a copy of the correct way to correspond with the school via email. These policies are put in place for the benefit of our whole school community.

St Vincent de Paul – Sleep out

Holy Spirit Parish is once again holding the St Vincent de Paul sleep out. It will be held on Friday 27th September. High School aged children and adults may take part in this if they wish. If you would like further information you can collect a sponsor page from the school office.

Dangerous and Sharp Items

We have had a few students bring in dangerous and sharp items from home that are not allowed at school. Please ensure that your child/children do not bring these to school. Any dangerous items found will be confiscated and parents will be contacted to collect them from the office.  We thank you for your co-operation in this matter as we aim to respect the safety of everyone here at SMMC.
