Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

Our students have been very busy this term participating in different sporting activities. The Primary students finished their last lesson of table tennis on Wednesday. The students really enjoyed playing table tennis and it’s been wonderful to see the students learning some new skills.  As part of the funding we received for the program, our school now has some new table tennis tables and equipment which is sure to be put to good use.

The year 7 and 8 students have been participating in a tennis program which also finished up on Wednesday. The students have been receiving professional tennis coaching at the Jindera Tennis Club over the past three weeks.  Our school also received new tennis equipment through the funded program.

We thank all staff who organised these programs as well as the coaches who provided the opportunity for our students to learn new skills and have fun.

This term the school has been running a Breakfast Club on Tuesday mornings from 8.30am.  Simple breakfast foods are served for the students giving them the opportunity to have a healthy breakfast in a social setting before school begins for the day.  The Breakfast Club will continue to be held on Tuesday mornings for the next two weeks.  All students are welcome.  Thank you to Mr Mathieu Couture for organising the Breakfast Club this term.

The Cardinal Newman Bookstore will be visiting our school community on Friday 29th November. Families will have the opportunity to purchase quality religious books and items in the hall after Mass that day.

Both our Primary Intensive Swimming and Secondary Swimming begin next week.  We thank all families who have returned their permission slips and submitted payment. ICAS Medallist, Maria Chandrasegaran

Earlier this year a number of our students participated in the ICAS Testing. We would like to congratulate SMMC student, Maria Chandrasegaran, who received the highest score in NSW/ACT for the writing test in her year level.  Maria has now been invited to attend a ceremony later this year to receive a medal for her achievement.  Well done Maria!

Author Visit – Fiona Basile

Students and families were treated to a beautiful experience last Friday with author Fiona Basile visiting with her storybook ‘Shhh… God is in the Silence’.  Fiona was very generous with her time and made an effort to get around to all primary classrooms to read her book, spend time answering questions and leading the students in some prayer time. It is hoped that all children, teachers and parents came away from the experience feeling very special and loved by Our Lord. Special thanks goes to Mrs Janet Smith for organising Fiona’s visit and accompanying her for the day.

Introduction of New Parent Access Module

From the beginning of 2020 our school will be rolling over to a new database system which will support better communication between parents and the school allowing parents more involvement with regards to their child/ren’s enrolment at SMMC.  The new system will include a Parents Access Module (PAM) that will allow parents to update their child’s medical information, notify a child’s absence and give excursion permissions as well as access the school’s calendar.  New features will be added throughout 2020. Parents can expect an email within the next few weeks with further information and instructions on how to access their PAM account.  We are also hoping to introduce a PAM App early in 2020, allowing parents mobile phone access to their account.

Signing Students In and Out

A friendly reminder that students arriving late to school or leaving early must be signed in or out by a parent or adult guardian.  Thank you.
