Dear parents,

The first ever Zoom meeting for SMMC parents was held yesterday evening. Across the district, the dulcet tones of Mr Carcarello could be heard at dining tables and kitchen benches informing students and parents of the options for elective subjects. Elective subjects are more than a NESA requirement; they represent something of the distinctive SMMC brand.

As I sat in my office, Mr Carcarello’s presentation of subject offerings reminded me of why SMMC exists: to provide a pathway by which each student can grow and flourish. Sure, families enrol their children to seek relief from secular mayhem. But once enrolled, students receive the formation and quality schooling that opens a myriad of possibilities.

It is gratifying to see new subjects on offer, such as textiles and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). SMMC is blessed to have a multi-talented teaching staff that, like the scribe in Mathew’s Gospel, bring out of their storehouse things both new and old.

I’d like to wish Year 12 students and their families all the best for trial exams, which are scheduled for next week.

Warm Regards,

Ian Smith
