2024 Newsletter Term 1 - Week 10

Dear parents,

Next week will be Fr Heffernan's last week at SMMC before he moves to St Patrick's, Albury. While he is not moving far, life at Jindera will feel Father's absence acutely. Over a period of 11 years, Fr Heffernan has been a near-constant pastoral presence at Jindera, being onsite at St Mary's church for Mass and Confessions 4-6 days each week.

Fr Heffernan is a strong supporter of our school. Father teaches catechesis in all SMMC primary school classes and regularly steps into high school Religion classes, hears Confessions and exposes and reposes the Blessed Sacrament when Fr Murphy is away.

Fr Heffernan has been a devoted leader of the Legion of Mary that attracts so many students to its prayerful meetings each Tuesday afternoon. There are few who do not wear a brown scapular provided out of his vast stockpile. Fr Heffernan will be deeply missed and I would like to thank him on your behalf for his loyal, humble and faithful ministry over many years, and prayerfully wish him great success and happiness in his new appointment at Albury.

Warm regards, Ian Smith Principal
