Week 8 Term 2 2022 Newsletter

Dear parents,

Easing congestion through the car park is a key, short term goal for the College and I am pleased to let you know that SMMC is on the cusp of securing agreement with the Greater Hume Council to construct new bus bays on the east side of Urana St and the north side of the school crossing. The movement of buses at peak times, traversing through the car park, has been a point of contention for some time. However, once the Council staff were made aware of concerns, they were quick to begin work on a plan.

An essential part of the plan is the funding of the project, to which SMMC will be making a contribution. To this end, I would like to invite parents to consider making a fully tax-deductible donation to the College Building Fund. Pleas for money are never easy, but with the end of the financial year two weeks away, getting something back, over and above a less congested car park, is not far off. Thank you for considering the appeal.

I hope to see you at one of the weekend’s performances of The Mousetrap. Having attended some of yesterday’s rehearsals, I can assure you that a night of rich intrigue awaits you. If you don’t want to be the only person to not know whodunnit, there are tickets still available for the Saturday afternoon matinee. I would like to thank Mr Williams, Mr Taylor, Mr Green and Mr Clark for their dedication to the artistic and logistical needs of the show, and wish the performers and backstage crew all the very best over the three shows.

Warm regards,

Ian Smith

Principal

There is a change to the SMMC Covid settings. The requirement to test in the case of symptoms, isolate for 7 days if positive and advise the school remains in force. However, other family members are not required to isolate, so long as they do not test positive and are feeling well.
