Dear parents,
Undoubtedly, one of the highlights of the school year is the Mass and Procession on the 24th May for the solemnity of Our Lady, Help of Christians.
Each year I am struck by the joy and reverence shown by our students. There is no shortage of volunteers to carry Our Lady’s statue, nor of enthusiastic flower petal bearers to adorn Mary’s path.
I saw the same sensibility on display in our Year 11&12 students throughout the recent trip to Sydney. More a pilgrimage than an excursion, we visited the tombs of St Mary MacKillop, Servant of God Eileen O’Connor and Cardinal George Pell, the gardens, halls of residence and lecture theatres at Campion College, and toured the inner sanctum of Parliament House.
In preparation for Mass at Mary MacKillop Place, we gathered in prayer around St Mary’s tomb. Each student knelt without being asked and joined in a morning offering that had a sense of real intimacy with our school patron. I was impressed with and proud of these young adults who will soon graduate out of school and into the world. They are why our school exists.
Warm regards,
Ian Smith

Mary Help of Christian’s Feast Day
The annual Mary Help of Christian’s Feast Day celebrations will be held next Wednesday 24th May. 10.30am Mass will be followed by a Rosary procession. All primary girls are invited to bring a white dress to school to change into for Mass and the procession. White dresses must be the correct fit and girls must have their shoulders covered. The wearing of a white dress is optional. Parents are also invited to attend the Mass and procession. Paella will be on sale to students for $3 per serve at lunchtime. Cupcakes will also be available for $1 each at recess time.
Parent Evening
Parents are warmly invited to a viewing of The Social Dilemma, a highly regarded film on the inner workings and business model of social media, on Thursday 1st June in the Hall. The film will be introduced and there will be an opportunity for discussion. The aim of the evening is to support parents as they navigate their children and family life through the maze of potentially addictive and very often destructive uses of social media. Beverages and nibbles are available from 7.00pm. The show commences at 7.30pm and will conclude with the usual social time. We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
Save the Date – Gala Dinner
This year’s Mary MacKillop Gala Dinner will take place on Saturday 5th August at the Commercial Club Albury. Please save the date in your diary.
In the lead up to the event there is a lot of work that takes place in the background to make the Gala a successful fundraiser for the school. We would like to ask parents to assist with helping to collect donations for the silent and live auctions that will take place on the night. For further information, please see the attached letter. Thank you for any assistance that you are able to give.
