Week 2, Term 3 2022 Newsletter
Dear Parents,
You may have noticed a green “X” painted on some trees along Urana St at the front of the school. X marks the spot where the Greater Hume Council will construct bus bays that were the subject of discussion at parent meetings earlier in the year. SMMC and Greater Hume have agreed to split the cost 50/50 and will see accommodation for four buses constructed over the coming months.
This project has been funded by parents who generously contributed to the College Building Fund towards the end of the 2022 financial year. I’d like to thank all parents whose contribution will make for a safer, bus-free drop-off and pick-up.
I’m really looking forward to seeing you at the Gala Dinner, which is always scheduled to (closely) coincide with the feast of St Mary MacKillop. While there will be many opportunities on the night to make bids and purchases that will contribute to other building projects, it is your presence on the night and the building of community that is the pre-eminent reason for the occasion.
Thank you for your support.
Warm regards,
Ian Smith
Principal

Saint Mary MacKillop Feast Day
A flyer was sent home last week outlining events taking place on the feast day of Saint Mary MacKillop on Monday 8th August. Parents are invited to attend the 9.15am Mass, 12.30pm High School assembly and/or 2.00pm Primary assembly. Students will also be able to buy Paella for lunch for $2 per serve. See the flyer for further details.
Subject Information Evening
The annual Subject Information Evening will be held through Google Meet on the 9th of August, for current students in Years 8, 9 and 10, who will be in Years 9, 10 and 11 in 2023. The evening will explore the subjects and electives being offered for students at SMMC, helping students make an informed decision in their preferences, to be completed this term.
The Stage 5 Session (Year 9 and 10 in 2023) will be held at 5:30pm; and the Stage 6 (Year 11 in 2023) at 6:00pm. Links to the Google Meet will be emailed to families the day before the sessions. Please contact Mr Carcarello should you have any questions in the lead up to the event.
School Closure Day
The school will be closed on Monday 15th August for the Solemnity of the Assumption, which is also a holy day of obligation in Australia.
