Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

It has been a very busy last two weeks of term. We had our year 11 and 12 students go to a Tertiary day last Thursday. This was a great opportunity that helped to assist in the student’s awareness of Tertiary choices, Gap Year and employment options.

Today the Year 12’s went to a HSC Science study day at CSU in Thurgoona. This was a great opportunity to gather some different study techniques and information, which can assist them in the studies for their HSC exams coming up in early Term 4.

Yesterday we had a visit from the Australian Defence Force. They were talking to the student about different career paths, Gap years and other great opportunities they offer.

Well done to the Year 6 class on their excellent performance of “The Selfish Giant” today. All the students did a wonderful job.

We hope everyone has a wonderful 3 week break. We look forward to seeing the students for Term 3 on Tuesday 23rd July.

BISSA Athletics

Last Tuesday we had a group of high school students go onto represent our school at the BISSA Athletics.  We congratulate all the students for their efforts on the day.

SRC Breakfast

Thank you to the SRC for putting on such a delicious breakfast for our students and staff on Wednesday, it is always a great way to start the day.

Year 12 Trivia Fundraiser

A big thank you to the year 12 class, for organising such a great night. I am sure everyone who was able to come along on Saturday night had a wonderful time playing Trivia. All money raised on the night will go towards the year 12 farewell gift to the school.

Earn and Learn

As of Tuesday 25th June, Woolworths Earn and Learn has finished. Thankyou to all families who have been able to collect the stickers for the school. If you have any stickers left please bring them into the office. We are now able to use these stickers to purchase goods for the students to use.

Uniforms

A reminder that students are not to wear any items of clothing that are not the school uniform unless they have a note from home. On colder mornings students may wear a Navy blue jacket.

Reports

Teachers have been working hard over the last few weeks on your children’s reports for Semester one. Primary Reports were handed out today and the secondary reports will be sent out early next week.  If for any reason you would like to get in touch with your child/children’s teacher, please email them directly. There will be Parent teacher interviews early in Term 3 If you wish to come and discuss your child/children’s progress or any concerns you may have.

P&F Wedding Catering

Thank you to all those who have offered to help with the wedding afternoon tea on Saturday 29th June.

Looking ahead to the fete in Term 4, another thank you to those who have been helping with planning and to those who have already committed to helping with a stall. This year we will be looking for donations for the craft stall, so if you are able to make and donate items, it would be good to get started early. Any ideas for craft items that might be popular can be emailed to vera.galvin@smmc.nsw.edu.au

Gala Dinner

Our annual Gala Dinner is coming up on Saturday 10th August. We are now starting to collect any donations for auction able items whether they be large or small. Please bring any donations to the school office.

Absences

If for any reason your child/children have been away from school and we have not received a notice, an unexplained absence is created. If there are any unexplained absences for child/children attached will be a form with a list of unexplained absences. Please fill this out and hand back to the school or send an email.

On Saturday 27th July we will be holding a school working bee. This will be to tidy up the school for the beginning of term 3. Lunch will be provided. Please come along if you can, your help is very much appreciated.
