Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

Welcome to the final newsletter for Term 2. Today marks the half way point of our school year and the end of a great term of learning. I have had the pleasure of visiting a number of classrooms across this week and it is terrific to see the variety and depth of learning taking place. One important aspect of the learning process is receiving and responding to feedback and it is wonderful to see students keen to take this on board and improve at every opportunity. I want to sincerely thank the SMMC Staff for their hard work and dedication to the students across this term and all our SMMC families for their support of their children’s learning at school. It is important we continue to build strong partnerships between home and school to ensure we are working together for the benefit of all of your children. I am sure everyone is very much looking forward to a break away to catch their breath and reset for a great second semester.

Next term we will be changing the morning structure and routine. K-10 will still assemble together on a Monday morning and for the first day of each term with the purpose being to maintain unity across the school, celebrate birthdays, promote weekly virtues and discuss anything else that pertains to the whole school. From Tues-Thurs Primary students will line up on the court when the bell goes at 9:15am and be collected by their teachers to go into class. Yr.7/8 will make Aquinas their homeroom, with Mrs Galvin and Mrs Kaur the homeroom teachers. Yr.9/10 will head into Dominic Savio where Mr Williams and Mrs McGrath will take on the role of homeroom teachers. These homeroom teachers will continue to lead prayer and Saint of the Day and will also act a ‘go to’ person for these students and for parents if there are general enquiries about aspects of schooling pertaining to these levels.

Reports and P/T Interviews

Reports will be mailed out to families early next week. There will be opportunities for parents to formally touch base with teachers at Parent/Teacher Interviews next term. I remind parents that the teachers are here to work with you and your children and you are welcome to arrange a time to meet with teachers at any time throughout the year. It is important to please make appointments to see teachers if needed.

Wednesday 1st August Secondary Parent/Teacher Interviews.

Tuesday 14th August, Primary Parent/Teacher Interviews.

We wish all those making their Debutante this Saturday all the best. We hope you have a wonderful night with friends and family.

SRC Breakfast

Thank you to the SRC for organising a wonderful breakfast on Wednesday morning. I’m sure everyone enjoyed some great

eggs and bacon before heading off to class. It was a great way to finish the term.

Lost Property

The lost property box is overflowing! Please come and check the box for your missing clothing items. If parents could please make sure that students uniforms have their name on it that would be appreciated as it makes locating the owner a lot easier.

School of Prayer

Based on the prayerful reading of Sacred Scripture. Starts with the 10 Commandments. Tuesdays fortnightly 7-8:30 at Esencia café. Contact Regina on 0407 935 918.

Enjoy the remainder of this solemnity as we celebrate the Feasts of Saints Peter and Paul, two incredibly important figures who were instrumental in spreading the faith in the early Church, which is now our mission here today! Thank you to Fr Lee for providing us with the opportunity for Adoration, Confession and Benediction today. It is always a beautiful way to finish the term and refocus on what is really important in amongst the busy lives we all lead.

Well done for all the effort that has been put in throughout the term. Enjoy a restful break and we look forward to seeing you back at SMMC to kick off Term 3 on Tuesday 24th July.

God Bless,

Luke Burton (Principal)
