As we now come to the close of the school year we would like to thank all the teachers and staff for their hard work this year. We also thank those parents who have volunteered their time helping around the school.
Last week was busier than usual due to the Primary intensive swimming program. Thank you to the GT Aquatics instructors for teaching our students swimming and water safety skills. If you are interested in swimming lessons for your child/ren during the school holidays, please see the GT Aquatics flyer attached.
Congratulations to our 2019 Year 12 graduates on completing their HSC. They celebrated in style with family and friends at their Graduation Dinner held at the Commercial Club on Saturday 16th November. It was a wonderful evening and we thank all who were involved in organising the dinner. We wish these young people all the very best in their future endeavours. May God bless them all.
Our last kinder orientation took place today. We hope our new students enjoyed meeting Miss Tania Maclean and spending some time at school. We look forward to seeing our new Kinders next year.
Cardinal Newman Bookstore
Thank you to the Cardinal Newman Bookstore for once again coming to our school and providing us with some beautiful religious books and items.
Reports
Teachers have been working very hard on student reports over the past few weeks. Reports will be ready for collection at the Presentation night next week.
Presentation Night
Our school Presentation night will be held next Wednesday 4th December at 7:00pm. We will hold this out on the school sports court. On the night, we will have a Christmas Craft Stall with some handmade items made by the students to purchase, so please remember to bring some cash. Thank you to Mrs Therese Mott-Pekolj and all the staff who have put many hours into organising the special evening.
Into the Woods
Well done and congratulations to all the students involved in the ‘Into the Woods’ production. You all did such an amazing job and should be very proud. Thank you to Dr Magdalene Kaur for organising the play and putting in many long hours of preparation. A special thank you also to all the back stage helpers and parents who helped make the production possible.
Welcome Back Barbeque
The Welcome Back Barbeque will be held on Sunday 2nd February at 12.00pm. Please bring a salad or desert to share. Sausages for the BBQ will be supplied by the school. Please make new families feel welcome.
Prayers for the Sick
Please remember to keep Kateri Byrnes, Jason Price and Jose Patino in your prayers over the Christmas break.
Introduction of New Parent Access Module
From the beginning of 2020 our school will be rolling over to a new database system which will support better communication between parents and the school allowing parents more involvement with regards to their child/ren’s enrolment at SMMC. The new system will include a Parents Access Module (PAM) which will allow parents to update their child’s medical information, notify a child’s absence and give excursion permissions as well as access the school’s calendar. New features will be added throughout 2020. Parents can expect an email within the next few weeks with further information and instructions on how to access their PAM account. We are also hoping to introduce a PAM app early in 2020, allowing parents mobile phone access to their account.
School Travel Applications
Applications for student bus travel in 2020 are now open. Students progressing to year 3 and year 7 no longer need to re-apply if they are at the same school, same address or have not been sent an expiry notification from Transport NSW. If your child needs their information updated or a new bus pass, you will need to go online to:
https://apps.transport.nsw.gov.au/ssts/updateDetails
Applications need to be submitted before 31st December 2019. Please see further information attached.
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal.
Our School is participating in the 2019 St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. Families are able to help out with the appeal by donating non-perishable food items (food items need to be well within the “best by” or ‘use by” dates), gift vouchers (Kmart; Target; Big W etc.) or gifts suitable for children up to the age of 16 years. Gifts are to be left unwrapped. Donations for the appeal can be brought into the school office. Thank you for your generosity.
Bunnings BBQ
Our school’s P & F Committee have been given the opportunity to hold a Bunnings BBQ on Saturday the 15th February. Please make note of this date and if you are able to come along and help in any way please let the school office know. Money raised will go towards much needed learning resources and other items for the school.
Lost Property
Families are asked to please check lost property for any missing items before the end of term. Any items that are not claimed before the Christmas holidays will be cleared out. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
