Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

Well the good news is that it was sunny for sports day this week and students and teachers got to be out and enjoy the warm spring weather. Congratulations to Timothy Mott who is our ‘School Rules Hot Chips Winner’ for this week. Great to see the leadership among our secondary students.

Yr.8/9 Information Night

Thank you to all the parents and students who were able to make it to our Yr.8 and 9 Information Night on Wednesday. I hope you found this night informative. There is a lot of thought and planning going into 2017 already and I thank the staff for their efforts in preparing for and running this night for parents and students.

Absences

As mentioned in last week’s newsletter it is important that we are able to explain all absences, so thank you for your assistance with this. If you are emailing regarding absences please use office@smmc.nsw.edu.au, so Fiona can print and file these notifications. Please update your email to this address and delete bmmcalbury@gmail.com. Thank you.

SMMC Fete

Keep selling those raffle tickets! Thank you. We have managed to get our fete advertised through the Greater Hume Shire via many of its channels, so hopefully we can attract lots of visitors. Make sure you invite as many people along as you can.

Yr.11 Exams

Next week we keep the Yr.11 Students in our prayers as they sit through their preliminary course exams.

Father/Son Camp

No doubt you have this date in your diaries already, but if not make sure you pencil it in – actually use pen, because we’d love to have all dads along to Feathertop Chalet in Harrietville from Friday 11th – Sunday 13th November. Even if you don’t have any sons at our school, you are more than welcome to come along and enjoy the male camaraderie. If any of the boys would like to come, but Dad can’t, don’t let that stop you. I’ll take on a few more sons. I am looking forward to what will be a very enjoyable weekend.

Coming up on Saturday 17th September is our next P&F Fundraiser. Please see page within this newsletter for all the details. Thank you in advance for your ongoing support of all our fundraising efforts.

Netball News from Mrs Ryan

Our three Saturday morning netball teams have had a great season with many wins, lots of fun and a great improvement in everyone’s skill levels.  Well done to all the girls and the Mums who encouraged, coached, umpired and scored for them. The U/13 team finished second on the ladder and will play in the semi-finals.  Any spectators are welcome to watch the match at 11am this Saturday, 10th of September.  U/13s will have training on Friday from 3:30 – 4:30pm.  We ask God to bless the girls and help them to show good sportsmanship and do their best in the finals.

School Concert

What a wonderful school concert we enjoyed last Friday evening. Thank you for coming out on a wet evening to enjoy the very impressive talent on show from the SMMC students. The support these students give to each other is exceptional and helps to build a great school culture. Thank you to all the students who braved the stage to share their talents with us.

Illness

There has been quite a number of sick students over the last little while. Please be diligent in monitoring your children’s health. Often a day or two at home to rest can help them recover and this also assists in not spreading the illness to other students. Thank you for your understanding.

We celebrated Our Lady’s Birthday on Thursday. What an amazing gift from God she was, taking on the role of the Mother of Jesus – WOW! We continue to ask our Lady’s help and protection for our families and our school.

God Bless
