Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

It is hard to believe we only have 6 days of the term left. What a jam packed term it has been. The students have been encouraged to continue working hard right up until the end and to look after one another, especially as we can get a bit tired and grumpy at the end of terms (yes Principals included).

‘Respect for Other’s has been our school rules focus for a number of weeks now. Congratulations to Gianna Irwin for being drawn out of our raffle and winning the hot chips last week. This week’s winner is Damien Bell. Great to see the students working on building such a positive environment at SMMC.

I had a very intense, but worthwhile three days of Professional Learning in Sydney last week at my Principal Induction Course. It is a great opportunity to meet with other Principals and discuss our school settings. It was nice to reflect on all the great work that has been done to get our school to where it is now and what can be done to continue to grow and improve in the future.

Parent Information Evening

From all reports the parent wine and cheese night and Saturday Workshop was well received. I’m sure those who attended got a lot from it. It is so important we work together and support one another in our vital role as parents. Thank you to Patrick and Maureen for their time and expertise! Thank you to Miss Nuttall for all the extra behind the scenes work she put in to ensure these events ran smoothly.

Olympic Games Gala Day

Next Tuesday 21st June, the Yr.5/6s will head to St Paul’s, Walla Walla to attend an Olympic Games Gala Day. We will be leaving SMMC at 9:30am and return by 2:30pm.  Please make sure Yr.5/6s have returned their permission notes. If you would like to come along and help out on the day please let me know.

Fete

Thank you to those parents chasing up prize donations for our Fete. Your efforts are much appreciated. Our next Fete Subcommittee Meeting will be on the first Wednesday back next term, 20th July at 2:30pm. See you there.

ICAS

ICAS Writing and Spelling were conducted this week. Well done to the students who took on this challenge. If they can spell the words on that test, they can spell anything!

Assembly

Please come along to our School Assembly TOMORROW after Mass. Classes have lots of great learning to share and we will give our final farewell to Miss Godwin also. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Campion College Visitor

Dr Paul Morrissey (President of Campion College Sydney) visited yesterday and spoke to our Yr.9-11 students about Liberal Arts, Campion College and future career choices. He also spoke to staff at our staff meeting, giving us much encouragement for the work we are doing and reminding us to keep the passion for learning at the forefront of what we do!

Primary School Parent/Teacher Interviews

Primary School Reports will be sent home early next week and then we will hold Interviews. Please see attached sheet regarding interviews and get your note back with time preferences ASAP.

Paella TOMORROW – $2

Thank you to Mr Williams for offering to cook up a paella storm tomorrow to help farewell Miss Godwin in style. This feast is available to all students and staff at our school for just $2 per person. Bring your money along and give directly to Mr Williams at the Paella Stall. Ingredients are listed on the next page so you can assess any dietary concerns. Being a Friday we have gone for seafood and vegetarian options. Bon Appetit!

Leaders Now

Any girls  in year 7 or 8 interested in attending the ‘Leader’s Now’  program please come to our first meeting at the Thurgoona Parish, 7.30pm Tuesday 21st June.

Thank you!

Miss Jessica Godwin finishes up at SMMC tomorrow before heading off on her big adventure. I want to thank Jessica on behalf of the whole school community for what she has brought to this community. She is a most passionate and knowledgeable educator, which is obviously soaked up by her students who hold her in very high regard. Jessica will be missed, but we wish her God’s richest blessings for whatever the future may hold. Thank you Jessica.

God Bless

Luke Burton (Principal)
