Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

We are nearing the end of another busy, productive term of learning. Often life can feel like you’re on a treadmill, having to just keep going and ‘get the next thing done’. I was reminded of the importance of ‘wasting’ time with your children when my 8 month old daughter needed some attention last night and am thankful for the reminder of what is really important. I am sure you are all looking forward to being able to ‘waste’ some time with your children in the upcoming holidays.

A very warm welcome to Tom and Cheradee Gillespie and family who joined the SMMC Community recently. Chris has joined us in Yr.10, Miriam in Yr.8, Jonathon in Yr.5, Matthew in Yr.3 and Annie in Yr.1. It is great to see you all settling in well.

A big congratulations to the following families on welcoming another family member recently: Andrew and Bernadette Flores on the birth of their daughter Adelaide Rita; Ross and Bridget Hayward on the birth of their son Lucas and to Michael and Manuela Suttie on the birth of their son Sebastian. We hope all is going well on the home front and we look forward to meeting these wonderful human beings sometime soon.

Cross Country News

Well done to Gabriel Dawson, Jack Irwin, Miriam Suttie and Matthew Woods who represented the school at the CIS Cross Country on Thursday 14th in Sydney. They all ran exceptionally well. Congratulations to Matt for running home in 13th place and thank you to these students for representing our school.

BISSA Athletics

Congratulations to all the students who attend the BISSA Athletics Carnival at Alexandra Park yesterday. It was great to see such a large group participating in a number of categories and representing our school.

Parent Evening

Thank you to everyone who showed their support by coming along on Tuesday night, I’m sure a lot was gained from it. Thank you to Mr Mark Mannering for his time, and a thank you to all who helped out behind the scenes. If you would like a copy of the slides and a recording of Mark’s talk, please email

Reports and P/T Interviews

Teachers are currently working hard on finalising reports for Semester One. These reports will be mailed out to families early in the holiday break. There will be opportunities for parents to formally touch base with teachers at Parent/Teacher Interviews next term. I remind parents that the teachers are here to work with you and your children and you are welcome to arrange a time to meet with teachers at any time throughout the year. Please see dates for scheduled interview times.

Lost Property

The lost property box is overflowing! If anyone has lost anything please check the box. If parents could please make sure that students uniforms have their name on it that will be appreciated, it will also make locating the owner a lot easier.
