Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

Yesterday we celebrated St Patrick’s Feast Day, a very important day within our Church where we remember the impact St Patrick was able to have in the country of Ireland and how the Irish Missionaries were able to then spread the faith to other parts of the world. The children were looking a bit green yesterday morning, but thankfully not due to being ill! The variety of costumes was very impressive, so well done to those who made the effort. Just like St Patrick, we too have a missionary role in sharing our faith with others. As Pope Francis writes in his encyclical Evangelii Gaudium: “The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus. Those who accept his offer of salvation are set free from sin, sorrow, inner emptiness and loneliness. With Christ joy is constantly born anew.” Let’s see what we can do to bring this joy to others.

Thank you to the SRC who were so responsible in ensuring cupcakes were made and brought to school for St Patrick’s Day. These cupcakes raised around $110 for the SRC, which is a terrific effort. We also had Hot Dogs on green buns and green cordial for lunch, so it was a child’s dream day at school really! A huge thank you to Miss Nuttall who worked tirelessly in and out of school hours to ensure all this was possible and thank you to the SRC and other students and staff who chipped in and assisted in any way.

Parent Evening

Thank you to those who were able to make it to our first Parent Evening on Wednesday night. Fr Joe Pich presented the many challenges Christian Marriage is facing, but assured us of God’s big picture plan for humanity and emphasised the importance of being a positive witness to the world. So let’s keep fighting the good fight in among the vast and varied challenges that are thrown our way. Truth, Beauty and Goodness are what underpin all we are trying to achieve at our school and are, in the end, what will win through.

Hot Cross Buns – Thank you to everyone who ordered Hot Cross Buns through the school to help raise some funds. The orders will be available to pick up after school next Tuesday 22nd March. Enjoy!

International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS)A reminder that ICAS registration forms are due back by Tuesday 5th April. Please consider if your child would be interested in sitting any of these assessments and get the forms back to us soon.

SMMC Legion of Mary – Meets every Tuesday at 3:30pm. Thank you to the volunteers who are here to run this each week.

Mother’s Day Raffle & Cake Stall

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!

The Parents and Friends are running a Mother’s Day Raffle and Cake Stall to raise funds to put towards school improvements. Raffle Tickets will go out early next week. Thank you to the Saliba family for their generous meal voucher donation – it is much appreciated. On Saturday 7th May, a Cake Stall will be run in Jindera. Your baking skills will be needed to help supply treats we can sell at this stall, so warm those ovens up for early May. Thank you in advance for your support!

Please note that next Friday is Good Friday and the following Monday is Easter Monday, so you can enjoy a four-day weekend with your families.

God Bless
