Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

What beautiful rain we have enjoyed this week to really bring a thirsty land back to life, fill up our water tanks and put a smile on farmer’s faces! Lake MacKillop was back in force, but our new court is a real saviour, allowing us to be out and playing during the breaks.

Congratulations to the Garcia family who welcomed a baby boy into the world last Friday on Saint Patrick’s Day, giving him the name Tobias Patrick. We hope he settles in well over the coming weeks. I was fortunate enough to meet Tobias earlier this week. His big brother Thomas is certainly very proud and I am sure Tobias will be a popular show ‘n’ tell item in the Kinder Classroom.

ICAS- Last call!

If you are interested in your children being involved in the upcoming ICAS Assessments, please return the form sent home a few weeks ago. If you have misplaced the form, please get in touch with Fiona in the office. Entries are due by this Thursday – 30th March.

As per other years, all year 8s and 10s will take part in the ICAS English and Mathematics Assessments as these are non-NAPLAN years and it gives the students an opportunity to gain experience with these kinds of assessments. The cost of these assessments will be covered by the school.

GASE Student Art Competition

SMMC Students have been invited to enter an Art Competition. With so many amazing artists within our school, hopefully some of you will take up the opportunity. Please see the flyer attached to newsletter for further information.

Winter Uniform Orders

It is time to begin getting organised for the onset of winter. Winter Uniform is required to be worn during Terms 2 and 3 (including the ANZAC Day Service in Jindera), so please get your orders into Mrs Anastasia Byrnes before the end of term. An order form is included with this newsletter.

School Photos

Please note that school photos will take place on Monday 3rd April and this year the students will wear full Summer uniform. Please fill in the attached photo order form and return to the office ASAP.

Netball Girls and Mums

Netball team registrations are open now.  Any girls wanting to play netball this season (Saturday mornings throughout terms 2 and 3) need to give their names and birthdates to Anastasia Byrnes, Jenette Perry or Clare Ryan.  We will have an U11, U13, and one or two U15/Open teams depending on numbers. We have mums happy to train the teams but we do need another Mum to volunteer to umpire (or organise an umpire) and look after the U13s team each Saturday morning.

Legion of Mary – ACIES

The Acies ceremony will take place on the feast of the Annunciation this Saturday (tomorrow) at Holy Spirit church at 3pm.  We encourage all members of the Legion of Mary to come to make their annual dedication to Our Lady.  Others are welcome to join in this simple but very sacred ceremony.

ANZAC Day

SMMC is organising the Jindera 10.30am Service on Tuesday 25th April, the day before Term 2 starts back. Students are asked to come along and represent our school at this service wearing full winter uniform.

New SMMC Family

We will welcome the Garratt Family to SMMC in Week 10 of this term. Ignatius will be in Yr.3, Raphael in Yr.6 and Florence in Yr.8. I am sure we will make them most welcome.

I hope you all have a terrific weekend.

God Bless,

Luke Burton (Principal)
