School Concert – TOMORROW NIGHT!

Tomorrow night, Friday 2nd September beginning at 7:00pm we will enjoy watching our students in action as they broadcast their talents. Please come along to support the students and enjoy their talent. We are asking each family to please bring along a plate to share for supper, which will be held on completion of the concert. See you there!

Attention Yr.8s and 9s – Information Night

Next Wednesday 7th September beginning at 7:00pm we will be holding an Information Night regarding Yr.9/10 for 2017. Please come along to this meeting next week if you have a child in these year levels for next year.

Absences

It is a requirement of BOSTES (Board of Studies Teaching and Educational Standards) that we are able to explain all student absences. Sending in a note or a brief email explaining the absence is sufficient. These are then filed as evidence. If an absence is unexplained our roll data system automatically generates a sheet with the students’ names and dates absent that we ask you to fill in and return. Thank you for your understanding and assistance with this matter.

SMMC Fete

The Fete Subcommittee was held yesterday and everything is ticking along nicely in preparation for Saturday 22nd October. Thank you to all who have been able to assist so far. We would like to have stalls for the fete finalised by the end of this term, so if you would like to run something please let us know as soon as you can. Thank you to those who have been selling the fete raffle tickets. If you need more books please see Mrs Galvin. Thank you also to the families who have sent in items for our bric-a-brac stall. If possible we ask that you keep these items at home until next term, as storage at school is becoming a bit of an issue – thank you!

Holy Spirit 2016 Annual Sleep Out

On Friday 23rd September the St Vincent de Paul Society are holding their annual sleep out. You will sleep under the stars in your sleeping bag, with cardboard supplied to put under you. A hot breakfast will be served the following morning as a thank you for your fundraising efforts. I have some information and fundraising forms in my office if you are interested. For further information please call Liz Macdonald on 60251078 or 0423064823.

Visual Arts and Drama Excursion

Thank you to Mr Williams for organising the excursion to Melbourne for the 9-11 Visual Arts and Drama students and also to Miss Reid and Miss Costello for accompanying them down to Melbourne. What a terrific real life experience for our students. Have a read of Curriculum Corner which outlines the trip.

Sports Court

Our much anticipated Sports Court is scheduled to be installed these coming holidays and should be up and running ready to use when we come back in Term 4. We must organise a parents v students match for early next term!

Happy Father’s Day to all our dads for this coming Sunday. I hope you enjoy your day and are able to put aside some time to stop and enjoy your families

Father’s Day Prayer

God our Father, you govern and protect your people and shepherd them with a father’s love. You place a father in a family as a sign of your love, care, and constant protection. May fathers everywhere be faithful to the example shown in the Scriptures: steadfast in love, forgiving transgressions, sustaining the family, caring for those in need. Give your wisdom to fathers that they may encourage and guide their children. Keep them healthy so they may support a family. Guide every father with the Spirit of your love that they may grow in holiness and draw their family ever closer to you. Amen

God Bless
