Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

Click here to download full version of newsletter

I hope this newsletter finds you and your families well. The students (actually maybe it was the teachers) calculated that including tomorrow we have 15 days of school left. The students were encouraged at assembly this morning to continue giving their very best efforts and get the most out of their learning right up to the end of the year.

P&F AGM TONIGHT

Tonight, at 7:30pm the P&F will be holding their AGM in the SMMC Library. All are welcome to attend. See you there!

Kinder Orientation Days

Tomorrow is the first of three Orientation Days for our 11 Kinder students beginning school in 2017. The orientation time is from 9:15am until 12:00pm. I am sure these children will enjoy getting a taste of what it is like to be at school. Thank you to Miss Maclean for her preparation of these days.

Father/Son Camp

We enjoyed a terrific couple of days away at Harrietville last Friday – Sunday for the boys’ camp. It was great to have so many of our dads and their sons as well as some ‘adopted’ sons at the camp. Harrietville is certainly a picturesque part of the world and Feathertop Chalet provided an excellent venue. We had a very energetic game of water polo on Saturday afternoon, with the dads and boys displaying some exquisite skills. A special mention must go to Angelus Saliba for the amount of goals he prevented in his role as ‘goalie’ – he definitely has a future in the sport.

SRC Breakfast

Yesterday saw the first breakfast put on by the SRC, which is certainly a good way to get people to school on time! There was an impressive turnout and the SRC ran a very impressive assembly line. Thank you to Mr Williams and the SRC for putting on this event. There was a great buzz and community spirit to give a positive start to everyone’s day.

Help needed

If you are able to help out with the hand mowing at school could you please let me know. Having a few people to help out would be much appreciated to keep our school looking presentable.

Careers Information Evening – What do I do?

Mark Mannering and Kieran Williams are organising a session covering some important ‘big picture’ thoughts, processes and suggestions for how to work out what to do after finishing school, which course/career to follow or think about, do I go to Uni now or take a year off, etc. The evening is for boys and girls who have just finished HSC, have taken a year off after HSC, or are about to start Year 11 or 12. It will take place in the Marian Centre, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 20 Hartigan Street, Thurgoona next Tuesday 22nd November (7.15pm for a 7.30pm – 9.30pm timeframe). Please call Mark Mannering on 0419 411 161 for more information and to book in.

Swimming

This week the Primary Students have taken part in an intensive swimming program at the Jindera Pool. We are very proud of them for toughing out a couple of colder days in the pool to start the week. Yesterday and today were a bit warmer and the students have done us proud in getting in and improving their swimming skills.

Feast of Christ the King

This Sunday is the wonderful feast of Christ the King. This is the last Sunday in Ordinary time before we begin the beautiful season of Advent and prepare to celebrate the magnificent feast of Christmas. We ask Christ to guide us through the remainder of the school year and help us to prepare our hearts and minds for Christmas.

God Bless,

Luke Burton
