Week 6 Term 4 Newsletter 2021

Dear Parents,

After a steady diet of comfort food and cortisol, the pandemic has produced in me a few extra and unwanted kilos. (Just following the science!) On the other side of the equation, and nearing the end of a 54-day novena, it has brought me to my knees. This is a good thing, and I know I’m far from the only one.

The recent feast of All Souls saw staff and students attend Mass followed by the procession to the cemetery and prayers for the dead. I love being Catholic and I love that I live in a parish that also loves being Catholic. The previous day on the feast of All Saints, students came to school resplendent in their saintly garb giving witness, not only to the holiness of their patron saint, but to their own faith. Some also came with a little script about the saint that Mum had helped to prepare for recitation at the parade. Verily, this is an indispensable cog in the wheel of SMMC culture.

I never cease to be consoled and inspired by our Catholic faith and the students at SMMC – the two reasons for the existence of our beautiful school. Thank you for your support, whether that be attiring your children in themed clothing, supervising home learning or enduring iso when you become aware of symptoms. All the best with primary swimming lessons and secondary exams next week.

Warm regards,

Ian Smith

Principal

Kinder Orientation

Letters outlining this year’s Kinder orientation days have been sent out to families who have completed enrolment for their child in kinder next year.  Please contact the school office if you require further information.

Lost Property

Lost Property will be cleared out at the end of this term.  We encourage families to please check the lost property baskets for missing items, as we would prefer them to be claimed by their rightful owners.  The lost property is located just inside the side doors to the school hall.

Some families have also contacted the school to inform us that they have not been able to find missing jumpers in the lost property.  Could families please check nametags on uniforms to ensure their child is not wearing another student’s jumper. Thank you.
