Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

It is good to be back on board this week and catch up with students, staff and parents. We reached the half way point of the term on Wednesday and I really encourage the students to keep working hard and persisting in their learning throughout the second half of the term.

Representative Swimming

Well done to the team of Primary students who represented the school in Wagga on Tuesday. Miss McCormack was very impressed by the way they conducted themselves throughout the day. We came an admirable third in the handicap and 6th out of 9 schools overall, which is a great effort.

Mrs Mott-Pekolj accompanied the secondary students to Wagga yesterday and was also very impressed with the way the students conducted themselves and gave their best efforts. There were some terrific results and lots of PBs swum during the day – great work team! Thank you to all the students who proudly represented our school, to the staff for their organisation and to the generous parents who provided transportation for the events – it is very much appreciated!

School Fees

School fees have been sent out this week. As an Independent School, fees are essential to us being able operate effectively, so thank you. Please do not hesitate to get in contact if there is any difficulty in paying fees so we can work out the best way to support you.

Fathers and Sons Camp

All families will have received a note this week about the upcoming Father/Son camp at Howmans Gap. These camps are always a great success and I am sure this year will be just as fruitful. Please get your note filled in and back to the office as soon as possible so we can continue to work on planning for the weekend. If you have any questions about the camp please get in touch.

Lowes School uniforms 20% off day.

On Thursday 15th March there will be a store wide 20% off at Lowes on Olive Street in Albury. This would be an ideal time to buy Winter Uniform items such as Blazers or Winter skirts or pinafores if needed. See attached flyer for a list of which uniform items Lowes stock. All other items can be ordered from Anastasia Byrnes. Please collect an order form from the office if needed.

St Joseph’s Feast Day

SMMC will be celebrating Saint Joseph’s Feast Day (Monday 19th March) by encouraging our students to colour in, do a drawing, painting, write a poem or pen a special prayer to St Joseph. See the attached flyer. Entries close Friday 16th March. The SRC will have cupcakes available on the day and paella will be available for lunch thanks to Mr Williams.

If you are interested in your children being involved in the upcoming ICAS Assessments, please return the form attached to this newsletter. Entries are due by no later than Wednesday 21st March. No late entries will be accepted. As per other years, all year 8s and 10s will take part in the ICAS English and Mathematics Assessments as these are non-NAPLAN years and it gives the students an opportunity to gain experience with these kinds of assessments and gives the school some valuable data. The cost of these assessments will be covered by the school.

Parent Evening

Next Thursday 15th March is our first Parent Evening of the year. These nights are an integral part of our school and I urge you to make every effort to be there. You will hear a great talk from Dr Raymond De Souza and it is also a great opportunity to touch base with other parents and staff from the school. Roll call at 7:30pm! This event is open to the public, so please feel free to invite others along. See you there.

God Bless, Luke Burton (Principal)
