Welcome to Week 4 of term. Well done to Patrick Simpson who is our Hot Chips winner this week. It is pleasing to see the positive interactions that occur on our playground across all ages. Keep up the great work everyone!

All Saints Day

It was a wonderful celebration of the Lives of the Saints on Tuesday. Well done to all the primary students who put in the effort to dress up and share something about their saint. It was a very impressive parade and it so important to remember the example these Saints give us in living a life centred on the person of Jesus Christ. Thank you to the SRC for providing cupcakes for morning tea. They raised $105 which they will put towards a charity they decide on at their next meeting. Thank you to Mrs Galvin and Miss Nuttall for their amazing efforts to prepare and dish out over 100 salad rolls – a great healthy lunch to help celebrate this feast day.

All Souls Day

Thank you to Fr Heffernan for offering Mass for us on All Souls Day yesterday. We remember especially on this day all the faithful departed and no doubt we all held special memories of our own loved ones who have died. After Mass we processed to the cemetery for prayers and blessing of the graves.

Eternal rest, grant unto them O Lord and may perpetual light shine about them, may they rest in peace. Amen

Baking for Youth Expo

Cakes, slices and biscuits are needed for the upcoming Youth Expo on Saturday 19th November. Anyone able to assist with baking morning tea for this occasion please contact Peta on 0427254809.

Father/Son Camp

Only a little over a week to go until we set off for the Father/Son Camp at Harrietville! All those who have put in their permission note should have received a note with what to bring and outlining any money still owing. If you could please forward any remaining money to the office as soon as possible it would be much appreciated. A timetable for the weekend will be sent out early next week. Looking forward to a great weekend.

Uniforms

A friendly reminder that during Term 4 hats are a compulsory part of the uniform and must be worn please! The lost property bin is also full to the brim, so please check you have all your uniform items. At SMMC we do expect that all students are wearing the correct uniform and wearing it with pride. We understand that sometimes circumstances make this impossible. If a student is out of uniform, please send along a note or email to explain why. Thank you for your assistance with this.

Absences

If any of your children need to be away from school for the day for any reason, we must have something in writing from you please. You can email Fiona or send in a note when your child returns to school. Students must also sign in at the office if arriving after 9.15am or sign out if being picked up before 3.20pm.Letting us know via these channels will mean you avoid having to fill in a ‘please explain’ sheet which is sent home with the newsletter. Thank you.

Swimming

High School Swimming Program kicks off next week on Wednesday 9th November from 1:45 – 2:45pm and will continue for the following four Wednesdays this year and six Wednesdays in term 1 of next year. Primary Swim Program will take place each day from 14th – 18th November. Lessons will be half an hour. Both these programs will take place at the Jindera Pool. Please return permission notes and money as soon as you can to assist the organisation. Thank you.

Our students are busily preparing for exams which begin this coming Monday. Thank you to the staff for all their dedication on the teaching front and to our hard-working students. All the best to our students – I’m sure they’ll give each exam their best effort.

God Bless,
