SRC Breakfast Club
Thank you to Mr Williams and the SRC for cooking up another beautiful breakfast this morning. Here is Tom Van der Horst cooking up the bacon, with evidence of egg cracker extraordinaire Joseph Ryan’s work on the table in front of the pan. Thanks to everyone for their assistance in what is always a terrific community event.
Athletics Carnival
Well done to all the students who participated with such enthusiasm and great sportsmanship at our Athletics on Monday. We were very blessed with great weather on the day and many records were broken. A HUGE thank you to all the wonderful parents who gave up their time to help on the day, to Mrs Mott for her incredible organisation and to the staff and students who helped out in any capacity. Age champions were as follows:
5,6,7 : Bethany Wright & Xavier Byrnes
8,9 : Gabrielle Byrnes & David Wright
10, 11 : Kateri Byrnes & Darcy Simpson
12, 13 : Clare Horsfall & Samuel Perry
14, 15 : Isabel Perry & Tom Irwin
Open : Johanna Ryan & Tom van der Horst
We ran out of time on Monday, so held our relays at school today. Congratulations to Saint Francis of Assisi who was the overall house winner on 2026 points ahead of Saint John Bosco on 1866 points. Great team spirit was on display throughout which is most important. Students will now be selected to represent SMMC at the next level of competition later in the year. Well done to all participants!
Feast of Our Lady of Fatima
We had a small ceremony at school on Friday to mark the anniversary of Our Lady’s first apparition at Fatima. We crowned our Lady, sung some hymns and prayed the Litany to Our Lady. The month of May is a wonderful time to revisit this incredible event and renew or strengthen our dedication to praying the rosary as a family.
P&F
Thank you to the parents who were able to come along to our Parents and Friends Meeting last Thursday. We discussed
the upcoming Saint Mary MacKillop Gala Dinner in August and the Annual Fete in October, which we put a lot of work into from this point forward. Many hands are needed to share the load, so please come along to our Subcommittee Meetings if you are able to and share your ideas and see what you might be able to assist with. The first meeting was held today and subsequent meetings will be advertised through the newsletter and via email.
Bunnings BBQ
We are hoping for another great day for our Bunnings BBQ this coming Saturday. If you are able to donate an hour of your time to help out please let us know. Last year we cooked 500 sausages and raised over $1000, so we are hoping for a similar result this year. Thank you to the P&F for their organisation and coordination of this event.
RAS Primary Cross Country
Congratulations to all our students who represented SMMC at the Cross Country event at Jindera Golf Course last Friday. All runners gave their best efforts and we had some really good results with many top 15 finishers. We took out the Handicap Trophy which is an average points scored per student – an excellent effort! Well done everyone.
P&F Raffles
Congratulations to Donalee Murphy who won first prize in the Mother’s Day Raffle and to Tom Jeffery of Jindera who took out second prize. Thank you to everyone for their support of this raffle, which was a great success. Please keep selling the Wood Raffle tickets over the next two weeks. We will draw this raffle on Friday 26th May and it is guaranteed to keep you warm!
God Bless, Luke Burton (Principal)
