Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

It has certainly been a busy start to Term 4 and it is hard to believe we are a third of the way through the term. Last Saturday’s School Fete was a huge success and I thank all contributors very sincerely for the work they put in to make it such a memorable event. The final total raised was $10,013, which is an incredible result. God certainly answered our prayers with the weather, which helped everyone to enjoy what was on offer.

Father/Son Camp

It is only 2 weeks until the Father/Son Camp at Harrietville. So far we have 34 boys and 15 dads on board. If you haven’t filled in your form yet, please get in touch with us ASAP as we provided these numbers to Feathertop Chalet yesterday. Plans are being finalised and further information will be sent out within the next week on the plan of attack for the 3 days, including what to bring. It will be a great weekend away.

Visit from Mission Team

Yesterday we were blessed with a visit from Sister Mary Emmanuel and Mission Team from Franklin in Tasmania. The sisters of the Immaculata’s apostolate focuses on parish renewal through Adoration and Faith Formation. The students and staff thoroughly enjoyed their joyful presence in our school.

All Saints Day

Next Tuesday we celebrate All Saints Day. At some stage throughout the day students will head to the church to pray. The Primary School Students will be dressing up as a saint they admire and we will have a parade at 11:30am where they can tell us something about their saint. At Recess the SRC will be selling cupcakes for $1. All money raised will go to the Missions. For lunch we will be making Salad Rolls for the students for $1.50 per roll. There is no need for money to go to the office. Students can hold onto their money and pay directly when they receive their food. Thank you!

All Souls Day – 2nd November

We will have Mass at 12:00pm on All Souls Day next Wednesday and afterwards process to the cemetery to bless the graves. We remember all our loved ones and all the faithful departed especially during the month of November.

Yr.6 Transition Day

Next Friday 4th November from 11:20am – 3:20pm our Yr.6 Students will be in with the current Yr.7s to gain some experience of what it is like in High School.

Level 1 Dinner

A group of about 30 people enjoyed a lovely dinner at La Maison last Tuesday 18th October to celebrate our High School Students who had achieved Level 1 on the High School Awards System. Congratulation to Johanna Ryan, Chloe Van Der Horst, Bernadette McCrohan, Ruby McLaurin, Joshua Morris, Brigid Horsfall, Lillian Murphy, Damien Bell and Hannah Moriarty. Thank you to Wasim and Marcia Saliba for providing beautiful food and for their ongoing support.

Farewell

Last Friday we farewelled the Buchanan family as they headed back to Murwillumbah. We wish them all the best and keep them in our prayers as they settle in to their new home. In true SMMC tradition, the students and staff formed a guard of honour as they left the school grounds.

Help Needed

Mrs Mott and her family have recently purchased a house in Jindera. They need some muscles to help them move on Saturday 10th December, so please get in touch if you are able to help out. There will be a BBQ put on to thank the helpers (only once the job is done!)

Seminarians Visit

Next Thursday 3rd November some Vianney College Seminarians will visit SMMC to talk with the students. Serra Club members will be cooking sausages for the students’ lunch on this day.

God Bless,

Luke Burton
