Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

We thank God for the wonderful rain which has been falling across this week. It certainly is a very welcome break from the dry conditions and no doubt you will have seen a few farmers with a spring in their step and a smile on their face!

The students in Years 3,5,7 and 9 have been sitting tests across this week in Language Conventions (Spelling, Grammar, Punctuation), Writing, Reading and Numeracy. The last of these tests is today much to the relief of the students. I thank the students for their calmness in just getting in and giving their best efforts during this test week. NAPLAN Testing is one form of data we can use as a school to assess our programs and their impact on students.

Lost Property

Could parents please check the uniform items they have at home for any that may belong to other students. We have many ‘missing jumpers’ that seem to have lost their way home and with this weather settling in they’ll be needed. Just a reminder to make sure jumpers, sports jackets and secondary school blazers are clearly marked with a family surname to make it easier for us to get them back to you if they are lost.

Let’s Dance

Starting THIS Sunday there will be Rock n Roll and Swing Dance Classes at St Patrick’s Hall from 3-5pm. The classes will run for 6 weeks for $48 per person prepaid. You can then put your new skills into practice at the Enchantment Under The Sea Dance on Saturday 25th June at Holy Spirit Hall, Lavington.  Bookings at

Parents and Friends Meeting

As you will have seen in the Dates for your diary section, we will be holding our Term 2 Parents and Friends Meeting tonight in the Library at 7:30pm. I hope you can make it along!

Mother’s Day Raffle and Cake Stall

Thank you to everyone for your baking efforts! We raised $375.25 through the Cake Stall and $384 from the Raffle. 1st prize winner was Esther Scholz and 2nd prize went to Claire Irwin. These are very helpful funds for the P&F to put towards school improvements. Your generosity is much appreciated.

Year 7/8 have been working on a History unit about Japan, so Mrs Morgan very kindly brought along some traditional Japanese art, craft and clothing items for students to see and try on.

ICAS Assessments will be conducted over the remainder of this term. The dates are listed in the Dates for your diary section. The first of these assessments is Digital Technologies next Tuesday 17th May. We wish the students all the best.

Mrs Shelley Callanan has been working part time with us for the past 4 years, but has been fortunate enough to secure a full time position at Jindera Public School and will finish up at Saint Mary MacKillop College next Monday. We thank Shelley for all she has brought to our school and wish her all the very best in her new role. Next week is also Mrs Caroline Barber’s last week for the term as she is due to have her baby. This is a most exciting time for Caroline and her family and we wish them all the very best for a safe arrival. In Mrs Barber’s absence, Mrs Margaret Richardson will join our teaching team yet again, working Wednesday and Thursday.

Have a great finish to the week!

God Bless
