Dear Members of our Community of Faith,
Newsletter Week 10 Term 3 2019
This Friday is the last day of term 3 and will be having a special assembly that day which will be run by our year 12 students as it will be their last day at SMMC. We encourage parents to attend the assembly if they are able to. A farewell Morning tea will be held for the year 12’s after the assembly, parents are welcome to stay for this.
This week will be busy at SMMC as Year 12 Activity Week gets underway. We wish the year 12’s an enjoyable last week at SMMC and all the best for their HSC exams early next term. Our prayers are with them.
We request that you please keep Kateri Byrnes and her family in your prayers. Kateri is quite unwell and has been transferred to Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne for further tests and treatment.
The 2019 Naplan results have finally arrived and are attached to the newsletter. If you have any queries regarding your child’s results, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.
Please make note that the students will return to school on Tuesday 15th October for term 4. The staff day has been moved from the end of term 4 to the beginning of term and the Monday will now be a pupil free day.
We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and we look forward to see you all again for term 4.
Enrolments for 2020
We are now taking kindergarten enrolments for next year. Please contact the school to organise an interview and tour. We are aiming to have new kinder enrolments finalised by week 4 of term 4, ready for orientation days in the last weeks of the term.
Fire Safety Talk
This Wednesday 25th September we will be visited by the Walla Fire Brigade who will make a presentation for both our primary and high school students about fire safety. The talks will also include a real fire truck!
Careers Night
The Careers Night for students in years 9-11 will be taking place on Wednesday 30th of October, starting at 7pm. We are still looking for some parent volunteers who would be willing to interview students on the night.
If you are interested please email Paul Elias for further details on paul.elias@smmc.nsw.edu.au

Lost Property
Lost property is over flowing with uniform and lunch box items. Please collect any items that belong to your family. Any items left at the end of term will be given to the second hand uniform shop, op-shop or thrown away.
Primary School Play Performances
The Year two class is performing ‘Wombat Stew’ followed by the Year five comedy performances of ‘Cinder…. Really?’ and ‘Mother Goose’ this coming Thursday 26th September at 2.00pm. The plays will be performed in the hall for the Primary School. All parents, family and friends are welcome. Please see the attached flyer for further information.
SMMC Annual Fete
Thank you to those who have responded to our call for volunteers to run stalls. Thank you also to those who have started collecting donations from businesses to use as prizes on the wheel. Copies of a letter to give to businesses asking for donations are available from the office or can be emailed to you. If you are able to help with this huge task, please email vera.galvin@smmc.nsw.edu.au prior to approaching businesses to ensure that they have not already been asked for donations. Keep selling those raffle tickets!
Signing In/Out & School Hours
If for any reason your child/children are late for school or need to be picked up early, it is required that Parents/carers come into the office themselves to sign students in and out. Students that are late and not signed in at the office will be marked as absent.
Just a reminder that students are not to be at school before 8:50am or after 3:40pm. This is for student safety reasons as we have no staff on duty before or after those times. Thank you for your co-operation in these matters.
Father & Son Camp
The Father & Son Camp took place over the weekend. We would like to thank Mr Phil Murphy, Mrs Kathleen Horsfall and Mr Nathan Dodd for organising the camp as well as Miss Chloe Van Der Horst for organising all the administration involved. It looks like everyone had a great time! A photo page is attached.
