Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

A very warm welcome back to Term 4. I hope you enjoyed the break with your children and the physical and spiritual batteries are well charged and ready for the term ahead.

We welcome Miss Rebecca Noll to SMMC this week who is working in classroom support while Mr Griffin is away on teacher placement.

It was a very busy holiday period at SMMC with the new building works in full swing. The skill of the removalists to get them here on site and lined up perfectly is quiet impressive and we are very thankful to Yarrawonga Manufactured Housing and all the contractors for what they have achieved so far. All going well they will be finalised within the next month and we will have the official blessing and opening of the buildings at our end of year presentation evening and be ready to move in for 2019.

This week we welcomed Michael and Maria Sparshott and family to our school community. Peter began in Yr.3 and Anna in Yr.2. It is great to see them settling in so well. Whilst welcoming one family, we farewell another and wish the Von Marburg family all the very best in their new venture.

Thank you to all the students and their families who walked in the Jindera 150th Parade on the first Saturday of the holidays. It was wonderful to be a part of this local community event and to represent your school. See you all at the 200th!

Thank you to all those who were able to help out at the Bunnings BBQ on the 1st of October. We made a great profit of $1074.30. This will be put to very good use around the school. We have another BBQ booked for Saturday 1st December, so we’ll be shouting out for volunteers closer to the date.

To get the school looking ship shape for our Fete next weekend, tomorrow (Saturday 20th of October) we are holding a Working Bee from 9.00am to 12.00pm. We will cook the usual BBQ for lunch as a thank you to all the helpers. If you are able to come along and help it would be very much appreciated.

SMMC Annual Fete – almost here!

Thank you to everyone who has helped round up some goodies for the day, your support is very much appreciated. The Fete will be held on Saturday the 27th of October from 10am – 1pm. Please return any raffle books and mystery bottles to the school by Wednesday 24th of October. If any families have items for the bric-a-brac please drop them into the school hall. Please no broken items! See attached note for more information.

Please mark Wednesday 7th November 7:30pm on your calendars for this term’s Parent Evening. Bernard Toutounji from Aid to the Church in Need will be visiting SMMC throughout the day to talk to the students about their faith and the Christian Faith throughout the world before presenting to parents in the evening. These evenings are organised to assist you in your role as first educators of your children and I hope you can make every effort to be there. If you know of anyone else in the wider community who would like to attend they are also more than welcome.

On November 1st for All Saints Day the students can come to school dressed up as their favourite Saint. These little saints will attend Mass at 12.30pm along with Jindera Public students who are visiting our school with Fr Heffernan. Parents are very welcome.

Primary intensive swimming lessons will take place in Week 6. Please fill in and return attached note with necessary money as soon as you can. Thank you!

We farewelled our three Yr.12s at the end of last term and they began their HSC Exams at Trinity College yesterday. Staff members are there to meet them before and after exams and we will continue to support them with our prayers also. It would be terrific if all families were able to join us in praying for them over the next few weeks.

Have a wonderful weekend!

God bless, Luke Burton (Principal)
