Dear Members of our Community of Faith,

Welcome back to Term 2. We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Easter break and is well rested, ready for what looks to be another busy term ahead.

Congratulations to the Irwin, Kite and Wright families on the arrival of Faustina Irwin, Matthew Kite and Isobel Wright. We wish them all the best for the future.

Kathleen Horsfall will be taking on the role of Acting Principal for the remainder of 2019. We thank Luke Burton for his service and commitment for the last 3 years of our school’s growth and expansion.

Cross Country

This Friday 3rd May, we have our school’s annual cross country run at the Jindera golf course. Please return any permission notes and payment as soon as possible to the office. Students will be catching the bus  to the golf course at 11.30am and returning to school by 2.30pm. Students may arrive to school in their sports uniform.

Yr 12 Teacher Interviews

Next Tuesday 7th May, We have our Yr 12 Parent Teacher Interviews. Interviews will be held in the hall between 6-7pm. Please come along if you can, as this is a great way to talk to your child’s teachers and discuss any concerns you may have.

Anzac Day

Thank you to all the students and families who represented our school at the Anzac Day service in Jindera on the 25th April. It is a great way to show respect and thank all the men and women who have served our country in many ways over the years.

SMMC Logo Scarf

If your child/children would like a scarf to wear this winter, please write your child’s name on an envelope with payment of $5 per scarf, and hand it into Mrs Mott-Pekolj or to the office.

Parent Evening

Our second Parent Evening of the year will be held on Tuesday 21st May at 7.30pm. We are fortunate to be hosting Mike and Alicia Hernon from the USA. They will be talking about “Messy Parenting”. Wine and cheese will be served. Please come and join us for a wonderful night. RSVP to office@smmc.nsw.edu.au, we are asking for a small donation of $10 to cover their expenses.

Simon Carrington Visit

Simon Carrington will be visiting our secondary students on Friday 10th May. Please see attached note for more information.

Yr 12’s Mother Day Fundraiser

On Friday 10th May, our year 12 students are holding a Mother’s Day stall fundraiser. Students will have an opportunity to buy a gift for mum at a variety of affordable prices. If possible can students please donate a new item that a mother may like as a gift. All items to arrive by Wednesday 8th May. Please hand any donations to student’s home room teacher.

NAPLAN

Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will be participating in Naplan which will be held in week 3. Tuesday 14th May will be Language Conventions and Writing. Wednesday 15th May is Reading and Thursday 16th May is the Numeracy test. 

Mother’s Day Event – Esencia

We invite you to join us at Esencia Café, on Saturday 11th May at 2.30pm to take your place at the first official Maker’s Table in Albury and embark on an artistic journey with us. It is our hope that each one of us, side by side is able to craft a life of beauty and wonder. Come and encounter our Lord as we all try our hand at biblical micrography. This is a gentle craft which makes it easy to contemplate how loving and kind our God is. No prior experience is necessary and everything that you need will be provided for you. We would love to set a place for you.

Earn and Learn

Our school is participating in this year’s Woolworths Earn and Learn. Between 1st May and 25th June, collect as many stickers as you can. You can stick them on the sticker sheets and hand them into the office at school, or pop them strait in the box provided at Woolworths in Lavington.

Working Bee

This Saturday 4th May, we are holding a working bee at school between 9am-12pm. If you are able to come along and help out with a few jobs, that would be much appreciated. A BBQ lunch will be provided afterwards. Please bring cobweb brooms and any other cleaning equipment you think will help get us back to shiny!

P&F News Our first Fete planning meeting will be on Wednesday 8th May at 2.30pm in the school Library. Please come along and share your ideas so this year’s fete will be a great success. Our next P&F meeting will be on Thursday 16th May at 7.00pm in the School Library. Fundraising events coming up are a Bunnings BBQ on Saturday 29th June and a Wedding afternoon tea.
